When using the Edit Content window, you have the option of editing in the Layout view or in the HTML view. The HTML view can be accessed by clicking on the HTML button in the toolbar.
The Layout view is aimed at less experienced web editors. All editing is done in a visual arena. You can place the cursor where you want something to go in the content area. Click on the toolbar, and the desired content will be created. Some tools require some information to be entered before the content is created. Once created many objects can be moved by “cut and paste” or “drag and drop” operations. No HTML code knowledge is required to work in the layout view.
The HTML editor is for experienced HTML editors. All content entry will require knowledge and correct entry of HTML code. There is no toolbar in this view, and no “drag and drop” editing.
For those who have a basic understanding of HTML, the two editors can be used together. The user can do as much as they know how in HTML, and then use the Layout view to do operations they don’t know how to code.
