Once you have created a table, there are a few ways you can edit it. In the Edit Content window, you can scale the table, and put content into the cells. In order to change settings such as background colors, spacing, cell size changes, exact table size changes, you need to click in one of the cells in the table, and click on the Insert Table button in the toolbar.
To scale the table in the Edit Content Window:
Click on the part of the frame of the table. Small handles will appear around the table.
Click and hold on one of the handles and you will be able to scale the table. If you grab a handle on one of the corners, you can scale the table vertically and horizontally at the same time. If you grab one of the handles on one of the four sides, you will only be able to scale it vertically OR horizontally depending on which handle you grab.
To add content to a table:
Click in one of the cells in the table.
When the cursor is flashing in the cell, you can treat it like the rest of the page. You can enter text and use the toolbar to put whatever content you want in the cell.
When you are done adding content to a cell, click in another cell or somewhere outside the table.
If you need to make changes to the table after you have created it, you can open up the Create/Edit Table window.
Click in one of the cells in the table.
Click on the Insert Table button in the Edit Content window toolbar.
The window will open to the Edit Cell tab. Click on the Edit Table Tab.
Most of the settings that were available when you created the table, are available in the Edit Table menu.
Background Color
Determines the color of the table background. The default setting is white. The background color can be set by clicking on the Pick button next to the Background Color entry box. A color picker will appear. Click on the color you want to be in the background. The code for the color will appear in the entry box.
Background Image URL
Sets an image in the background of the table. The default setting is no image. The background image can be set by entering the file path of the desired image in the Background Image entry box.
Width
Determines how wide the table will be. The width can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the width of the Editable Area. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the width entry box.
Height
Determines how tall the table will be. The height can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the height of the Editable Area. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the height entry box.
Cell Padding
Determines many pixels will be between the content in a cell and the border. To change the setting, enter a number in the entry box next to Cell Padding.
Cell Spacing
Determines how many pixels will be between each cell in a table. To change the setting, enter a number in the entry box next to Cell Padding.
Border Size
Sets how many pixels thick the border around the table will be. The default is 0. To change the border size, enter a number in the entry box next to Border Size.
Alignment
Determines how the table will be aligned in the Editable Area. The table will align to the left of the Editable Area by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Align drop down box, and selecting left, center, or right. Left will align the table to the left side of the Editable Area. Center will center the table in the Editable Area. Right will align the table to the right side of the Editable Area.
Border Color
Sets the color of the border around the table. The default setting is gray. To change the border color, click on the Pick button next to the Border Color entry box. A color picker will appear. Click on the color you want to be in the background. The code for the color will appear in the entry box.
When you are finished making changes, click on the OK button to submit your changes.
If you want to make changes to a table cell, you can open up the Create/Edit Table window.
By default the Create/Edit Table window will open to the Edit Cell tab.
Cell Background Color
Allows you to set the color of the individual cell.
Cell Background Image URL
Allows you to put an image in the background of a page by typing in the URL to it.
Cell With
Determines how wide the cell will be. The width can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the width of the table. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the width entry box.
Cell Height
Determines how tall the cell will be. The height can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the height of the table. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the height entry box.
Alignment
Determines how the cell will be aligned horizontally in the table. The cell will align to the left of the table by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Alignment drop down box, and selecting left, center, or right. Left will align the cell to the left side of the table. Center will center the cell in the table. Right will align the cell to the right side of the table.
Vertical Alignment
Determines how the cell will be aligned in the table. The cell will align to the top of the table by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Vertical Alignment drop down box, and selecting top, middle, or bottom. Top will align the cell to the top side of the table. Middle will vertically center the cell in the table. Bottom will align the cell to the bottom side of the table.
Wrap Text
This check box, if checked will make type wrap to the next line when it hits the right side of the cell.
Insert Row
Allows you to insert a row of cells either above or below the selected cell depending on which button you click on.
Insert Column
Allows you to insert a column of cells either to the right or left of the selected cell depending on which button you click on.
Delete
Allows you to delete the row or column the cell is in, or just the selected cell itself.
Span
Determines how many columns or rows the cell will span or stretch across.
When you have made all your entries, click on the OK button to submit the changes.
If you want to further divide a table cell down, you can put another table within a cell. The process is similar to creating the original table.
Click in the cell where the new table will go.
Click on the Create Table button.
By default the Create/Edit Table window will open to the Edit Cell Tab. Click on the Create Table tab.
Fill in the text boxes with the desired settings. (See Creating Tables)
Click the Okay button to create the table.
The new table can be edited in the same manner as the original table.
