Editing Tables

Once you have created a table, there are a few ways you can edit it. In the Edit Content window, you can scale the table, and put content into the cells. In order to change settings such as background colors, spacing, cell size changes, exact table size changes, you need to click in one of the cells in the table, and click on the Insert Table button in the toolbar.

Editing the table with the Edit/Create Window

If you need to make changes to the table after you have created it, you can open up the Create/Edit Table window.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Determines the color of the table background. The default setting is white. The background color can be set by clicking on the Pick button next to the Background Color entry box. A color picker will appear. Click on the color you want to be in the background. The code for the color will appear in the entry box.

 

Sets an image in the background of the table. The default setting is no image. The background image can be set by entering the file path of the desired image in the Background Image entry box.

 

Determines how wide the table will be. The width can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the width of the Editable Area. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the width entry box.

 

Determines how tall the table will be. The height can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the height of the Editable Area. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the height entry box.

 

Determines many pixels will be between the content in a cell and the border. To change the setting, enter a number in the entry box next to Cell Padding.

 

Determines how many pixels will be between each cell in a table. To change the setting, enter a number in the entry box next to Cell Padding.

 

Sets how many pixels thick the border around the table will be. The default is 0. To change the border size, enter a number in the entry box next to Border Size.

 

Determines how the table will be aligned in the Editable Area. The table will align to the left of the Editable Area by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Align drop down box, and selecting left, center, or right. Left will align the table to the left side of the Editable Area. Center will center the table in the Editable Area. Right will align the table to the right side of the Editable Area.

 

Sets the color of the border around the table. The default setting is gray. To change the border color, click on the Pick button next to the Border Color entry box. A color picker will appear. Click on the color you want to be in the background. The code for the color will appear in the entry box.

 

 

 

Editing a table cell with the Edit/Create Window

If you want to make changes to a table cell, you can open up the Create/Edit Table window.

 

 

 

Allows you to set the color of the individual cell.

 

Allows you to put an image in the background of a page by typing in the URL to it.

 

Determines how wide the cell will be. The width can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the width of the table. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the width entry box.

 

Determines how tall the cell will be. The height can be set in a specific number of pixels, or by a percentage of the height of the table. This setting can be changed by selecting “pixels” or “percent” from the drop down box next to the height entry box.

 

Determines how the cell will be aligned horizontally in the table. The cell will align to the left of the table by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Alignment drop down box, and selecting left, center, or right. Left will align the cell to the left side of the table. Center will center the cell in the table. Right will align the cell to the right side of the table.

 

Determines how the cell will be aligned in the table. The cell will align to the top of the table by default. This setting can be changed by clicking on the arrow button next to the Vertical Alignment drop down box, and selecting top, middle, or bottom. Top will align the cell to the top side of the table. Middle will vertically center the cell in the table. Bottom will align the cell to the bottom side of the table.

 

This check box, if checked will make type wrap to the next line when it hits the right side of the cell.

 

Allows you to insert a row of cells either above or below the selected cell depending on which button you click on.

 

Allows you to insert a column of cells either to the right or left of the selected cell depending on which button you click on.

 

Allows you to delete the row or column the cell is in, or just the selected cell itself.

 

Determines how many columns or rows the cell will span or stretch across.

 

 

 

Creating a table within a table

If you want to further divide a table cell down, you can put another table within a cell. The process is similar to creating the original table.
